Tyler was born into a family committed to public service. Despite his relative privilege as a youth, Tyler had a rough start; his struggles led to engagement with the criminal justice system at age 14. A community-based “diversion” initiative and community support saved his life, and after a period of restitution and reconciliation in his teens, he dedicated his life to serving the well-being of people and place. Tyler’s wounds informed his way.

During high school, Tyler was an alpine ski racer and soccer player in his hometown of Ketchum, Idaho. He went on to Colorado College and earned a BA in World Political Economy. His early roles included being a flight instructor in Florida, working for a US Senator in Washington DC, and serving for a half-decade as a marketing professional for FlightSafety International a jet pilot training company. In his late 20’s, he produced environmental education programs with the late singer John Denver at the Windstar Foundation in Aspen, CO.

Building on a lifelong Kriya Yoga practice and devotion as a Christian contemplative, in mid-life, Tyler earned a Master of Divinity degree at Naropa University. He subsequently completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Program in Cambridge.
